Is there an upside to using A list actors for a videogame? I feel like that would add such an unecessary strain on the budget when people would just play a game with a random computerized character as long as it is good

Beyond Two Souls is very narrative-driven, so it makes sense to have decent actors... BUT you can get nobodies for a tenth what Willem Dafoe and Ellen Page cost who would do a good enough job.

Nobody's playing a game because Juno and the Green Goblin are in it.

No. I'm struggling to think of a single example of a video game that sold really well just because there was a well known actor in it. Unless you count Danny Ross' appearances in GTA V and RDR2 of course. Oh wait, he didn't make an appearance in either of those games and just did lacky work behind the scenes that any brainless monkey could do.

Sue Lightning has made multiple proper appearances in video games though, including in Cyberpunk 2077. Pretty cool tbh.

GTA Vice City was loaded with big names. Not saying it was the reason why people bought it but it seems after that game it became too expensive to stack a game up with big names after that. Its a shame too since those actors were a nice nod to all the 80s movies they were in.
