I wonder if there's a scenario where Germany has sufficient collaborators in the Netherlands, who then form a Vichy-style Dutch-Japanese cooperation in Indonesia, giving Japan sufficient oil to sustain its land war in China without attacking Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the Philippines and overtly pulling in the British and Americans.
