Ask the guy who starred in it, who visibly aged 20 years during the chronological filming of it.
They ruined that poor kid for the sake of realism. He could've been actually shot many times because they used live ammo and in the scene where he's behind the dead cow he had bullets flying a couple inches over his head. The poor fucker had PTSD like he actually survived the invasion. It's a great movie but that's really sad. Like 14 years old and his hair started greying during filming from the stress.

Reminds me of Tarkovsky insisting on shooting stlaker in an actual abandoned manufacturing plant and half the cast and crew ended up getting cancer from whatever fumes were still lingering there.
