A part of Florida I really enjoy is north central (Gainesville, all those towns around there), and St Augustine. Sure, it’s pretty nogged but very laid back and pretty affordable. I wouldn’t mind living in bumfuck Florida sometimes.

I hear a lot about his inability to stop home insurance companies from leaving the state due to fraud. A woman I work with has a daughter in the middle of the state, no flood risk, minimal hurricane risk who bought a home with her son-in-law a few years ago because it was cheaper than in the Northeast and now their home insurance is extremely high, to the point where they may have to sell the house and relocate to Georgia. The son-in-law was a big DeSantis guy but now hates him.
They come up to the Northeast in the summer for a week here and there and they are all in on moving to Georgia to escape Florida.
