  • Did nothing with the information that the (uncontested) subpoenas revealed
  • Asked for more extensions
  • Wrung 6 figures out of a pedophile organization
  • Left his client with almost $40,000 in debt

Other things Brinton did:
  • Worked for a boutique Internet Reputation Management firm, without being licenced to practice in California, where all of the internet is located. This means that any time he wanted anything done on the case internet-wise, he needed to hire another lawyer to sign off on the work; and burn through a second set of lawyer fees for his client.
  • Subpoenaed Kiwi Farms for information that was freely available on the internet, and that even Joe Cumia found by himself. I can't remember whether he just subpoenaed Kiwi Farms, or whether he hit Google, their hosts and their domain registrar as well; all of which cost Pat/SFWA money.
  • Failed to anticipate (or know about) basic First Amendment precedents like Krinsky v. Doe 6, thus fucking his client's case right from the moment they filed in Wisconsin.
  • Using the term "workbook" to refer to webserver logs, like some sort of 18th century cretin.

I'll also point out that in my opinion Joe Cumia is a better lawyer than Brinton:
  • Joe was able to determine Null's name and contact details without a series of expensive and time consuming subpoenas, just by typing "who runs kiwi farms" into Bing.
  • Where Brinton's case was lost to a legal precedent, Joe actually established his own legal precedent - to wit, that racists can enter into legal contracts ("Thank you!")
  • Joe won his case, and won it before a national audience.
  • Joe got the girl; Brinton got the sack.

I've always maintained both Joe and Nana write very well...actually, Nana's writing on reddit reminded me how writing staff on shows write. I don't in any way believe his tin knocker story, him and Joe came from a performer family, probably got diddled with etc, and maybe did a few blue collar gigs to put food on the table but were always a performer at heart, and received adequate training for it.

Joe is not dumb...just a nigger in the sense he has no work ethic. Cumia too but he had a marketable talent.
