The voice/affectation is a put on. While Texas has its own things, Jason's English pronunciation is very poor, a mix of uneducated hick and convict jive.

He's over-read, so he uses big words that may be appropriate but he frequently mispronounces them and he lost 20 years of freedom so he misses common references.

He's like listening to a janky Stone Cold Steve Austin gimmick dropping knowledge to fellow prison-tatted white trash.

IIRC he was adopted by a conservative Christian family and was given/took their name. So, an even less-stellar origin.

But I've not found primary sources of 'discovering' or the renovations of massive buildings in the US.
