Burbank, California. The original. I was in the valley for a band rehearsal today and decided to drop in for dinner on my way back home.
Fucking hell, I forgot how good and inexpensive it was. I used to eat here all the time with my roommate when I lived in Burbank during the recession. One time, I even saw Jay Leno sitting by himself at a booth in his Canadian tuxedo after a day of filming The Tonight Show down the street from here.
All this for $13.99! Prices like these are unheard of in California nowadays, especially for Los Angeles. And it was delicious! Ps, I like black pepper on my garden salad, no judgies.
The white stuff is mayo, and the red salsa-looking stuff is their secret sauce (basically a tangier, sweeter thousand island).
Still has the diner feel. I’m pretty sure it was all old Jewish television and movie producers sat in the booths behind me. I sat at the bar since I was alone.
They have quirky decor and merch.
I bought a tee, cus what the hell. THAT was NOT cheap, however. $25.99. Bottom left.
Anywho. I’m moving to Chicago next month, so it was nice to drop into an old haunt one last time. Thanks for coming along. God bless.
