Those are nice but that’s probably way overkill if you’re just filtering otherwise good tap water for drinking.

Agreed it's overkill for at home, but they sell cheap RO systems... but a 3 stage sediment / carbon filtration set up is real cheap to do too. Here's a 6 stage for a couple hundred bucks -
