What is interesting to me is that viral illnesses have been causing post-viral syndromes forever. Toxic pollution has been causing illnesses forever. Society is just waking up to how these issues affect society? We have short memories and history repeats itself.

As a now retired MD I knew in February 2020 when there was only sketchy information from China about Covid what we were in for and it gave me panic attacks. I knew my world would change as a result and I already was scheduled to retire April 30 of that year. I already suffered from almost lifetime chronic fatigue syndrome from viral hepatitis B and partially disabling lung inflammation from swine flu in 2010. I am surprised Covid has not done more damage to society.

I would disagree with the Harvard Study (not read yet) for including quality of life metrics in its study. But we in this country are still under estimating cognitive and cardiovascular long term consequences of Covid as well as the impact on our health care providers who are episodically continually exposed to the disease.

Our health care system has been left in a sorry state coping with long term covid symptoms that are for the most part only symptomatically treatable. There are no medical cures.

I can't imagine the thought process of people still masking up in 2024. I still see them at the grocery store sometimes. At this point, do they just wear the mask for the rest of their lives?

For a certain class of people it's like a baseball cap. Hides something they'd rather not show.
