Alan Partridge is sooooo like my life

I'm pretty much the exact same guy lol. And btw, the Michael Scott character is totally ripped off from him. Pretty much Peep Show, the original Office, and the American Office all owe a huge debt to this guy. One of the .00000001% of "recommendations" from here that actually ended up being good (even though it wasn't really a recommendation but YKWIM). It's very quintessentially British, so there's probably a pretty small Venn diagram crossover of people who haven't seen it yet, and would be into it. But still... Mad props, or whatever they say. Probably the closest I'll ever get to living in Northern England in 2002 lol...

Peep Show is almost painful to watch because Jez is supposed to be a comedic character but to me he is just me.

I just watched the Alan Partridge movie earlier tonight for like the 69th time. It's one of the funniest movies of all time to me. I've made several people sit through it and I laugh my ass off at pretty well everything out of Steve Coogan's mouth while they sit there silently the entire time like "I guess it's a little funny."

What was the controversy that got Steve Coogan cancelled? He got a hooker or something? How quaint that would be today.

"Who's this chap?"
"That's my Molly."
"Ah yes. She's got such...brown hair."
"The year after that was taken, the angels took her."
"Must've been a few of them."

Some of the shit I find the funniest is just in the way he says it. Like the whole part where they find the guy hiding in the closet. "You look like a Geordie Anne Frank." And "Michael suffers night terrors, he thrashes about like a big salmon."

And everything about the standoff scene makes me laugh but after he gets shot and he's watching the seagull fly away with his spirit, his assistant goes to close his eyes and he's like "What are you doing? I'm watching it fly off." all annoyed. Then he tells her that her face will be the last one he sees and the paramedic arrives and he's like "Oh, good." I think Steve Coogan could say anything as Alan Partridge and I'd find it funny.

"What was that??"

"Septic tank. You can keep it."

I know exactly what you mean. Like that "must've been a few of them" line. Sidekick Simon almost whispers it under his breath - like "I probably shouldn't say this about the dead wife of the guy who's literally got a shotgun duct-taped to my head, but I can't help myself."

I've said this before on here but Alan Partridge might be the greatest comedic character ever created. It's so cool how he's basically a multimedia character as well with a consistent continuity so there are so many jokes that you wouldn't get it if you don't know the character. The Partridge books are probably the funniest books I've ever read. Has anyone here listened to his podcast From the Oasthouse? It has three series now, I love it.

"You must be Paul."
"No... it's David."
("This is store manager, David Paul")
Lmao.
