The Wisconsin case still being on the books means that Rick is still paying Brinton & Nicole's retainers, right? Even after Brinton is on record saying if the California case is quashed they have nothing?

Not necessarily. Minc law doesn't seem to be on a monthly schedule or anything. From their website it seems like you need an initial 7.5k. Once that was drained in 3 weeks they likely are just billing him hourly each month. If they didn't do any work this month then they wouldn't bill him.
