Get In The Van was an interesting read, especially as someone who started out doing similar road trips, barely surviving. I question some of his claims in there though - I'm sure he did get shit from the cops but I wonder how much he exaggerated.
His other books are poems, free style writing, musings, and Chuck Paluhniak-type weird prose. Very hit or miss.
He did write one thing that always stuck with me though, as I've had a similar experience, so it might not mean anything to anyone else. Paraphrasing: "A woman sent me a letter. She called me a God... Why can't I afford to pay my rent?"

Fact is that Rollins was the worst Black Flag singer, all three of the prior guys were better. After "Damaged", everything he did with BF kind of sucked and it kept getting worse as it went along. While I don't really hate the guy or anything, he can be quite a pretentious, condescending twunt at times.
When people talk about "SOA" like it was actually good, I'm just aghast. That show was pure junk TV with lots of cheap shock value, as well as the worst music of any TV drama. Those musical montages they'd do were just laughably bad.

Everything up to and including "Damaged" is all you really need to hear. After that they got all "experimental" and, uh, not good. "My War" is OK but after that, blech.
