I'd probably say 2006.

By 2007 everyone had a Facebook and that's what made society collapse to the level it's at. Facebook was limited to those with a college email address in it's early days and that stopped I believe in 2007.

Twitter was also launched in 2006. Then the first iPhone launched in early 2007 iirc. It was all downhill from there.
