he has lots of old posts on IT help forums from around 2003-2009. he has a PC build on his blog from around 2014 and talks about it handling a hypervisor. none of that is really related to security. IMO he may have been a promising sysadmin at one point but probably got dragged down by who cares xbox jobs. if you're in helpdesk and you don't get out of it within a year or two you'll end up like this shane fella here
Help desk is great if you don't have a degree and can put up with bullshit for 16 months. You'll move up almost immediately if you can speak English and follow simple directions. You should move to tier 2, senior or something and you'll stand out because everyone is retarded.
You can then take on harder tickets and learn the systems that way. You're essentially working as a systems engineer but without the degree. Do that enough and you can move up through to actual IT positions.
